Within The Woods is a 32 minute Super-8 movie. Director Sam Raimi used it to entice investors and get the funding needed to produce a feature length version, which would become "The Evil Dead".

Within The Woods was shot on a budget of $1600.

The movie was filmed in 6 days.

Apart from Mary, the actors use their own names in the movie.

The movie was shot on location at the Tapert family farm in Marshall, Michigan.

It had its premiere in a Detroit cinema called "The Punch And Judy"
in August 1979.


Scott Spiegel was unable to join the making of The Evil Dead due to work commitments.
He later co-wrote Evil Dead II with Sam Raimi.
